Alfred Waud and Theodore Lyman became good friends. From the letter accompanying the bottom drawing, this was originally in Lyman's possession, likely a gift from Waud. Waud added Meade and probably Lyman, too, in the finished drawing. Lyman's wife gifted the drawing after his death. The drawing sold for $4,613 at auction on June 22, 2018.
